Russia's president, Putin, is reportedly planning to attack other nations, as asserted by the Polish president.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki issued a warning during a press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in Helsinki, stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to invade other countries, a response to Moscow's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Nawrocki, Poland's newly elected nationalist president, made these statements without naming any specific countries that Putin is planning to invade. Similarly, Stubb did not mention any specific countries Putin might be targeting.
The concern comes as US President Donald Trump offered to send more troops to Poland last week, demonstrating a shared apprehension among NATO members Poland and Finland, both of which share borders with Russia.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also expressed concerns, warning that Putin's actions could extend beyond the conquest of Ukraine. Merz cautioned that Putin's "imperialist plan" might not end with the conquest of Ukraine. However, no specific measures were mentioned by Merz regarding the response to Putin's actions.
In a separate report, Nawrocki was reported to be in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv to meet with President Zelenskiy, but the exact purpose of his visit was not specified.
Stubb has been speaking to Trump regularly in recent months and, during Nawrocki's visit to the White House, Trump welcomed him with a military flyover.
Despite the warnings, available information and public statements suggest that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not openly declared to Polish President Karol Nawrocki that he is prepared to invade a specific country in the future.
Meanwhile, European powers are pushing to end the war in Ukraine. The development of Poland's armed forces or allied relations, or any specific measures regarding the response to Putin's actions, were not mentioned by Nawrocki, Stubb, or Merz.
